Michelle Cooper, BA, MSW, RSW, ASIST Certified
I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service
Workers (OCSWSSW). I am also a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. I completed the
Master of Social Work Program at Wilfrid Laurier University (2005) and hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Honours Psychology with a specialization in Criminology from the University of Waterloo (2002).
Currently, I am an intern with Dr. Amanda Bell and Associates. I am also employed at the London District
Catholic School Board as a School Social Worker supporting children, adolescents, and their caregivers
overcome barriers to school achievement and to improve overall mental well-being. I have over 14
years’ experience working in the field of Children’s Mental Health, Youth Justice and Education. My
social work experience includes both brief and long-term intervention with a focus on individual
counselling, group work, and delivering evidence-based programs. My training is in the areas of child
trauma, loss, suicide risk assessment, trauma response, emotional regulation, resiliency and canine
assisted intervention. I am inspired daily by the young people and the families I work with as they
demonstrate strength, resiliency, and perseverance in the face of adversity. I am honoured to be a
witness to their story and journey with them through some of their most difficult moments.
I am continuously seeking opportunities to further my professional development and have recently
completed my Basic EMDR training (2018). I am a Certified Trauma and Loss Specialist and am certified
in Violence Threat Risk Assessment. I am currently working towards my certification in Cognitive
Behaviour Therapy and my EMDR certification.
