Amanda MacDonald MSW, RSW
From the beginning of my social work career, I have believed that personal growth,
development, and positive change occurs everyday in human life. Fortunately, in the past 20
years of working with my clients, I have been privileged to work alongside, as they make
positive change and face fears that have held them back from reaching their full potential.
Working from a trauma and attachment lens, founded in neuroscience, I provide counselling and
therapy to individuals and families. Together, we develop a treatment plan and set therapeutic
goals to assist in healing from adverse life experiences and uncover innate strength and
resilience. By using a collaborative, strengths-based approach, I believe that building,
enhancing, and repairing support systems (whenever possible) is essential, while individuals
pursue their journey of healing.
In 2011, I completed the Master of Social Work program at Kings’ University College, then
pursued training as a Trauma and Loss Specialist and Certified EMDR Therapist (Eye
Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). I welcome diversity in all client challenges,
backgrounds, cultural/religious beliefs, sexual orientation, age, and gender.
